A collection of unique, beautifully designed functional art including rugs, textiles, ceramics and jewelry made by the hands of highly-skilled, local artisan communities.

_SONDAH takes a conscious approach to consumption, ethical sourcing and the true meaning of fair trade. Acutely aware of our social and environmental responsibility, we work directly with local artisans and social production partners to ensure we stay within the parameters of OUR VALUES.

The artisans WHO We work with are almost all female, AND possess skills and techniques passed down from generation to generation. Each engage in their own creative process, encompassing personal life stories and expressions of culture using traditional craft(wo)manship.

We collaborate with many artisan communities, from the Beni Warain situated at the heart of the Atlas Mountain in Morocco, whose female makers weave their story into our vibrantly colored woolen floor rugs to the Kuna tribe in the Sandblast Islands of Panama, who create jewelry inspired by their nightly visions and traditional cultural myths.

WE have recently INTRODUCEd _SONDAH’S OWN DESIGN pieces to our COLLECTION, all of which are made by the hands of local artisans we work with.

The creative processes we have observed in making such artefacts are a dance between the inner and outer, the unconscious and the conscious, dreaming and doing, solitary reflection and active collaboration. The finished object evokes an emotional response and a connection to the object and the artisan who made them.

_Sondah was founded by Sadie MURphy and Nova Dye out of a passion for travel, connection and design.

Sadie's curiosity for culture began after 2 years of traveling through local communities in South East Asia and India, where she was exposed to a completely different way of life. She had questions left unanswered from her travels, and curiosity led her to LEARN MORE THOUGH a DEGREE IN Anthropology while living and working in New York's fashion industry. She has a Master's degree in Social Business and Entrepreneurship from the London School of Economics and is committed to using her knowledge to grow_Sondah's social responsibilities.

Nova started her career in fashion and later went on to become a make-up artist, working on editorial and backstage for a number OF YEARS BEFORE MOVING TO Norfolk, where her love for design evolved into the world of interiors. after traveling through india, she began to buy handmade silk rugs from local artisans for herself, friends and family. over time, this led to the sourcing artisanal rugs for Sadie's clients in New York and the east coast.

Together, sadie and nova began their travels in search for the uncommon designs that can be seen in _sondah's collection. They often and very purposefully fall off the beaten track to work with rural communities across the world, connecting with THE MAKERS TO learn more about the creative processes that embody _Sondah's design pieces.

_SONDAH has grown organically over the years from sourcing artisanal designed pieces for friends, family, and private clients to sourcing and supplying designers, trade, and commercial clients in and around Europe and the east coast of America.
